That's part of it too (one of the tripwires?), I think overuse kicks in earlier than in 4.5.

Good game Miami, a much better performance from us although we made enough mistakes to keep it interesting.

I haven’t seen an overuse penalty yet. Maybe they happen in the background sometimes, but my rules are pretty solid with variety, and calling most of the playbook.

I think your Head Coach is more likely to try and run the clock down in the second half if you're leading. So he calls 'safer' plays.

Not sure if it's intentional but you do see a similar thing in real life when teams suddenly flip a game on it's head after one play/incident sparks a change of momentum.

This though is one of the instances where Smirt and I agree, I think the reality (my opinion, pure speculation) is that the game has tripwires to keep things close - penalties, incompletions, turnovers. Whether that can be by-passed with rules is debatable, but there are also days when everything clicks and you run out easy winners.

4.5 didn’t seem to have the type of tripwires as 4.6 does. If you have success with certain plays early, then the code seems to nerf them for the rest of the game. Rules can probably bypass this.

Play overuse.

It’s more than just play overuse though. It’s based on how much success you have early on offense. Tripwire in the code fires and you struggle the rest of the game. This was JDB’s solution to the 4.5 problem of FL Hitch play one of the game going for an 80+ yard TD.

Yeah, ya'll are circling in on it. You have to think like JDB or picture a crying whiner hitting him up on PM to find a solution to 'FIX THE EXPLOIT!' FL Hitch was #1 on the agenda. There's a definite thing that if you come out swinging hay makers with 212 short passes or 113 HB Flares unless you overpower right at the gate ...if you fail on the initial flurry - then you're f***ed. The more you open with the power shots and the more you unload without hitting for the TD it means once the jail bars come down the entire rest of the game you will not hit those passes and the engine revs up against you overall on both sides of the ball. You will lose.

Great example from another angle.

I had an opponent with 4 Admirals on the d-line due to injury. We'll call it garbage rated 60 players so I was like hmm I'll have fun and make an example. Idea was to obliterate the d-line further and smooth sail to victory. I came out with a conga line of FB Dives and the engine got mad as f***. It revved against me for the entire game after that and I lost.

So, yeah, JDB has tried everything he can to weaken offense and promote parity.

Love him or hate him Smirt knows the code better than any of us. Wise word here.

I vote my P way too early MVP. 52 yards punt average and 60% of his punts in the 20. Things would be far worse without him.
