Even if you can point to certain plays that might work, it still does not get rid of the fact that there is no overuse penalty, which is the bigger issue as many have stated.

https://bigdata.myfootballnow.com/forums/1/61?page=1#275 basically seth the owner of the league kept data on everything of the league and put in spread sheets. While i think flat is effective i don't think its broken its not like im getting 30 sacks a game or something crazy

it's not a blitz tho so you really spam any non blitz play and it would be the same thing

Right, but it completely shuts down the running game if you use it against 1RB/1TE/3WR, 2RB/3WR, and 2RB/1TE/2WR.

Then use different formations? Lots of factors to why runs don't work you can find runs that gash it in the big data link i posted

I just think it's dumb and unfun to have a handful of owners in this league running a one-play defense (that clearly has code issues). It just feels robotic and unrealistic to me. Why even game plan at all when you can just click OLB Flat Zone? There's no challenge nor gamesmanship in that.

What would you say coaching staff has to do with it?

New playbook I get, but 4-3 coaches have many highly successful plays.

I would say it has to be capped if there is no overuse penalty, which means it’s a flaw in the code somewhere.

Without flat zone I’ll still take a 4-3 defense ALL day

My play book has too many zone plays if we're limiting flat zone i need a play book with more man plays and im on both sides sucks its overused but on the other side if it works it works its helping my crappy team

Here’s what I’ll say.

Making a change after the start of a league year is a tough ask. I’m trying to hear everyone out, but I think Shark’s idea for putting a rule into effect next year has to be the answer.. I’d like others to chime in. Also, as an experienced GM, like you said, if someone only calls that play I can figure ways around it.
