To be honest, I only cared about fatigue levels when my CB3/4/5 would get pulled in on 3rd down to defend a WR1 and then get burned. Being able to adjust fatigue levels by position solved this. So now I largely set them and ignore fatigue after that. (Also, I sign like 15 DBs to every team, run multiple coverage schemes with them, platoon whole sets of DBs depending on down and distance...)

15 is probably a bit of an exaggeration...I think...there are a few leagues where it has gotten that high in the preseason.

Basically, DB is the most important position in the game right now despite their terrible coverage abilities. The reason they are so valuable in the run game and passing game is because they are properly spaced and react properly unlike LBs.
